Healthy
Families is a program designed to prevent child abuse and neglect
by offering support and guidance to parents facing multiple challenges
such as single parent status, low income limitations and lack of
medical support.
Healthy
Families provides early intervention and family support services,
helping expectant and new mothers build strong, healthy relationships
with their babies through in-home visits.
Family Support Workers
stay with families for up to five years and support parents by:
- Ensuring families have medical providers
- Teaching parents about the child
development process
- Assisting families in identifying the
needs of their babies
- Supporting families in the home
- Linking families with community resources
- Assisting mothers with job placement,
educational goals and daycare
- Sharing ideas on caring for babies,
toddlers and young children
- Ensuring families receive recommended
immunizations
